Tasks:
  1. Add and define the key terms into your glossary (Remember to distinguish between previous topics)
  2. Read the case study "Anarchy erupts in Baghdad" and answer the following in books.
  • What caused anarchy in Baghdad, 2003?
  • Why was Australia involved in this conflict?
  • What was the effect of no law enforcement?
  • How does this event explain the need for laws?

     3.   Read Concepts in Commerce pg. 72-73 and complete                             questions 7-9 & 11-13 in books



HOMEWORK ACTIVITY
There are many temptations in life that are prevented and regulated though the use of laws. Watch the clip below from "Dark knight rises" and complete the reflection activity
  1. Imagine anarchy erupts in the school at this very moment and  for the next 24 hours all actions are consequence free.  Write a 150+ word journal reflection of the things you would do in that 24 hours knowing you would not be apprehended. This can be typed and include visuals if you want. The best/creative top 5 will be posted anonymously on this webapge

  2. As we go through the powerpoint ensure you answer the following key focus points
  • Why do we need laws?
  • What is the difference between a rule and a law? Use examples
  • "Is it acceptable to break the law sometimes?"
  • What are TWO laws that protect citizens in NSW?
     
3.   Complete the 'Reasons for laws' handed out in class. This will be collected and marked.

  3. Research the following State laws. 
  • The Education Act 1958
  • The Equal Opportunity Act 1995
  • The Road Safety Act 1986
  • The Consumer Affairs Act 1972
  • The Summer Time Act 1972
For each law consider;
  1. What is the purpose of the law. (Briefly)
  2. What rights and responsibilities might they involve for you or your family?
  3. Do they affect you regularly/seriously?
  4. What is the importance (rank) of the law on your life?
